Perseid Meteor Viewing Party

Join us for a free community tradition: An evening under the supremely dark skies of Siskiyou Field Institute to gaze at the stars – and the shooting stars! We will be hosting the annual Perseids meteor shower viewing party on our site from 8:30-11:00pm on Friday, August 14th.

This event will feature presentations by the Grants Pass Astronomy Club and Oregon Caves. Telescopes will be set up for improved viewing of the meteor show.

The Perseids Meteor Shower can produce up to 100 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. However, the meteors usually peak in the wee hours of the morning, which is why we recommend camping out in our open field!

Registration is FREE for the evening only. Camping is $20 per tent/RV/camper van. Please note no RV hookups are available. Parking is limited; please carpool if you are able.

We will have light snacks available for purchase, but no meals will be served.
