The confluence of the Coquille River and the Pacific Ocean is a fascinating area of multi-faceted ecosystems, teeming with a diversity of life that may be easy to miss from afar, but hold many stories to discover once you take a closer look. Explore the major habitats of this area firsthand – from ocean beaches, to grassy dunes, to estuarine wetlands, to tidepools and rocky shores. Along the way you’ll learn about the natural systems at play there, including the geology, botany, birds, and other wildlife, plus some local human history.
Field days are easy (car travel with short stops, approx. 1 mile of hiking per day, requires climbing a large flight of stairs).
Ages 12+ welcome.
