High School Rogue River Rafting Excursion

July 22, 2020 @ 8:00 am - July 24, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

$400

This two-night, three-day excursion on the Rogue River is designed for high schoolers entering 9th – 12th grades who have an interest in hydrology, watershed science, and rafting. The Rogue River offers splashy rapids, quiet natural pools, lush canyons, and a variety of wildlife. As participants travel downriver from Robertson’s Bridge to Grave Creek, they move backward in time through geological layers. They spend the afternoons observing and discussing first-hand local geological, ecological and hydrological examples. They navigate rapids, conducting water quality tests, and explore what makes a healthy watershed. Participants set up evening camp alongside the river, discuss the impact of dams and water in the West, and find summer constellations in the sky. No prior experience required; all meals and rafting equipment are included. Rafts and guiding provided by Nathan Van Amburg of Nate’s Rogue Adventures.
