High School Rogue River Rafting Excursion

This two-night, three-day excursion on the Rogue River is designed for high schoolers entering 9th – 12th grades who have an interest in hydrology, watershed science, and rafting. The Rogue River offers splashy rapids, quiet natural pools, lush canyons, and a variety of wildlife. As participants travel downriver from Robertson’s Bridge to Grave Creek, they move backward in time through geological layers. They spend the afternoons observing and discussing first-hand local geological, ecological and hydrological examples. They navigate rapids, conducting water quality tests, and explore what makes a healthy watershed. Participants set up evening camp alongside the river, discuss the impact of dams and water in the West, and find summer constellations in the sky.
