Geologic Tour of the Newer Siskiyous

Instructor: John Roth
Date: August date to be rescheduled
Location: Meet at SFI to carpool
Tuition: $110

The Siskiyous are so old, it’s difficult to see under the scars! This trip will showcase the last altered rocks, fossils and other features of the last 100 million years that were destroyed elsewhere or altered beyond recognition. We will see the effects of the last great collision with a micro –continent and how it twisted the Siskiyous to the unusual orientation we see now. Starting at SFI, we will drive to Cape Blanco in Curry County, camp there Saturday night and return the next day via Reedsport and the Umpqua Highway.
