Botany 101 on Dutchman Peak
Instructor: Kristi Mergenthaler
Date: Sunday, July 16, 2017
Location: Meet at the Ruch Country Store
We will use the spectacular subalpine meadows, rock gardens and forests of the Dutchman Peak area on the Siskiyou Crest as a laboratory to begin exploring plant morphology, evolution, family characteristics and both scientific and common names. You’ll meet flowering plants and conifers head on— and even take a peek at nonvascular plants like mosses and lichens — in this fascinating introduction to our local botanical universe.
Consider pairing this field course with Geology of Big Red Mountain on July 15. Camp on Mt. Ashland overnight!
