Middle School Wilderness Expedition
(3 days, 2 nights)


Dates: August 5th - 7th                                  Meeting Point: Siskiyou Field Institute 
Camp Type:  Mixed Gender                             Destination: Buck Lake

Ages: Entering 6th - 8th grades​                     Siskiyou Wilderness                                   
*Interested high school students may also apply. 
Fee: $100 per person; $25 for                      
Fleming, Lincoln-Savage, and Illinois Valley High School students

A good introduction for teens who want to gain backpacking experience!  On this three-day backpacking journey into the breathtaking Siskiyou Wilderness, participants will learn skills such as proper packing, back country cooking, setting up bear hangs, water purification and how to follow Leave No Trace principles.  This opportunity provides quiet time for introspection as well as plenty of social time. Trips will be led by at least two SFI instructors, one of whom has current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification.

High School Kalmiopsis Wilderness Trip
(9 days, 8 nights)


Ages:  Entering 9th- through 12th grade

Dates: AHS Students ONLY: July 21st - 29th
All other HS students: July 1st - July 9th 


Fee: $550 per student (Scholarships are limited to Ashland High School students participating in the Summer Outdoor Program. Fundraising is encouraged for other students with financial needs.)
$30 per Illinois Valley High School students (Funding is provided by the 21st century grant.)

NEW! High School Alpine Trip​
(10 days, 9 nights)


Dates: July 22nd - August 1st 

Fee: $550 per student (Scholarships are limited to Ashland High School students participating in the Summer Outdoor Program. Fundraising is encouraged for other students with financial needs.)
$30 per Illinois Valley High School students (Funding is provided by the 21st century grant.)
 
This backpacking trip allows participants to immerse themselves in the wilderness and connect deeply with nature. Participants will learn survival skills, have solo time for personal reflection, and participate in group bonding activities.  Two to three SFI instructors will co-lead the trip; at least one instructor has a current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification. This trip is limited to 13 students due to wilderness area regulations.
