Third Grade - Memorable Mammals

Memorable Mammals
Offered Spring and Fall 2013
Grade: 3

Fee: $15 per student* (Includes classroom visit and 4-hour field trip)
*Class fee may be lower if grant funding is obtained.

During a pre-trip classroom presentation and a Deer Creek Center day field trip, students learn fundamentals of mammal identification, tracking and behavior. While examining skulls and pelts, they'll compare and contrast mammal characteristics. Then they will learn how to track mammals and make predictions about which animals might be found at DCC. Students will gather information and record data about their surroundings in SFI-provided journals. They'll also participate in a predator/prey simulation activity to learn more about mammal behavior.
