The Siskiyou Field Institute offers you the opportunity to become a Certified Naturalist. Learn from the region’s natural science experts to develop a deeper sense of place, gain naturalist skills and build a strong foundation of natural science knowledge.
A Certified Naturalist will cultivate job skills, create rewarding volunteer opportunities, and enrich his/her understanding of Klamath-Siskiyou ecology.

SFI has two levels of certificates available, the Basic Naturalist and the Niche Naturalist.
Basic Naturalist Certificate
The basic certificate provides a broad overview of the natural history and ecology of the Klamath-Siskiyous, enabling graduates to begin to recognize and understand the region’s natural features, flora and fauna.
Niche Naturalist Certificate
The Niche Naturalist Certificate is for people with a basic understanding of Siskiyou natural history and seeking additional skills and knowledge in a specific area of study. We are offering two certificates: Botany Niche Naturalist and Ornithology Niche Naturalist.
