Bigelow Lakes by Lee Webb

Instructor: Linda Vorobik, Ph.D.
Dates: Monday-Thursday, July 15-18, 2019
Location: SFI, Selma, OR
Tuition: $275

This course picks up where “Crash Course on Flowering Plant Families” left off last season. Learn to key more difficult plant groups including Asteraceae, grass-like plants such as sedges and rushes (Graminoids) and the always challenging buckwheats (Eriogonums) with their many taxonomic variants. After a day overviewing each plant group in lectures and labs, we’ll foray to the outdoor classrooms of Poker Flat, Bolan Lake and Bolan Peak, and Bigelow Lakes, all of which feature vast plant diversity. We’ll botanize and key in the field, then spend Day 4 in the classroom doing some mystery plant I.D. detective work.
